2004 Grand Banks 58’ Refit:
Teak Deck Removal & Upgrade
The Walstrom Marine Service Department in Cheboygan completed a major teak refit on the 2004 Grand Banks 58’. The project involved the full removal of the original teak decking and installation of a completely new fabricated teak deck system. Working in coordination with Teak Decking Systems for the initial layout and templating, Walstrom Marine took over the full installation process and completed all finishing and detail work in-house. This project demonstrates our team’s ability to execute complex, high-end teak replacement projects with precision craftsmanship and premium results.

PROBLEM
The owner of the 2004 Grand Banks 58’ wanted to refresh the teak interior. The existing teak surfaces showed wear and aging, and a complete replacement was required to restore the original appearance and craftsmanship. The project involved removing the old teak, sourcing newly fabricated material, and installing it throughout the vessel. This work required precision fitment, detailed finish work, and craftsmanship that matched the standards of a Grand Banks Yacht.
SOLUTION
Walstrom Marine completed a full teak interior replacement on the 2004 Grand Banks 58′. The existing teak was removed and new teak materials were fabricated by Teak Decking Systems. Their representatives assisted at the beginning of the project to support layout and initial installation. After that, Walstrom Marine completed the full installation and all detail finishing. Lead technician, Art Langolf handled the fine fitment and finishing to ensure a premium result that met the owner’s expectations.
RESULT
The new teak interior transformed the vessel, restoring the warm aesthetic and elevated finish that Grand Banks Yachts are known for. The installation provides a clean, refreshed finish that improves the visual appeal of the yacht and supports long-term durability. The 2004 Grand Banks Yacht now feels renewed and ready for continued cruising. Moving forward, Walstrom Marine will complete teak projects fully in house.
