Timeline

1946

Ward Walstrom and Paul Griffeth purchased Melching Garage & Boat Works

1960

Walstrom Marine grows by digging out the basin; installing a break wall, bulkhead, and haul out slip

1987

Walstrom expands to Cheboygan, adding an 18,000 sq. ft. heated building, haul out slip with a 70-ton lift, and 40 deep-water slips on the Cheboygan River

1995

Walstrom Marine became the first marina operation in Bay Harbor

2009

The original downtown building and 65 slips were converted to what is now The Boathouse of Harbor Springs

2011

A new 10,000 sq ft heated showroom with sales offices was built at 500 E Bay Street, Harbor Springs

2018

Walstrom Marine Charlevoix’s sales office is added

2020

Walstrom Marine purchases the old Traverse Bay Marine in Traverse City’s Chum’s Corner location bringing the total locations to 5

2021

Continuum Ventures takes on majority ownership stake in Walstrom Marine with Colony Marine, owned and operated by the Pete Beauregard family, The James Mestdagh family will assume a minority ownership stake. The Ward Walstrom family will remain actively involved

2022

Walstrom Marine acquires Algonac Harbour Club in Algonac, MI and Grand Bay Marine in Traverse City, MI.
