A Stellar Celebration for Pets and Their People, Hosted at Walstrom Marine in Harbor Springs
By: Carol Giles, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Major Events Coordinator
On August 15, 2024, the Walstrom Marine Boat Warehouse in Harbor Springs was transformed into a dazzling venue for a heartwarming and impactful celebration—the 25th anniversary of Little Traverse Bay Humane Society’s Howl at the Moon. At this annual event, known for its blend of fun and excitement, attendees were treated to a spectacular evening, beginning with an array of fabulous food from the Crow’s Nest Restaurant & Catering. The culinary delights were complemented by delectable desserts from Small Batch, ensuring that every palate was catered to. An open bar added to the festivities, creating a lively atmosphere where supporters could mingle and celebrate the cause.
The event was more than just a night of indulgence and enjoyment; it was a testament to the generosity and commitment of the community. With a mix of silent and live auctions, raffles, and a variety of engaging activities, the evening was filled with enthusiasm and anticipation. The highlight of the night was the record-breaking amount of over $500,000 raised, thanks to the incredible support from sponsors, donors, local businesses and dedicated volunteers.
Since 1951, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society has been serving pets and the people that love them. In 2023 alone, over 850 animals were cared for by LTBHS. This year’s Howl at the Moon was a celebration of their stories and the collective efforts that made their care possible. The funds raised during this milestone event this year will go directly to providing animals in need with the essential resources: healthy food, warm beds, medical care, and the love and attention they deserve until they find their forever homes.
Our mission remains steadfast—to sustainably and respectfully serve pets and the people who love them with compassionate, comprehensive, and exemplary care. The overwhelming support from the community at this year’s Howl at the Moon is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.
